About DEFY

DEFY is Driver Education For Youth

Why DEFY?

In 1997 a motor vehicle accident in Myers Flat claimed four young lives. This tragic event became the catalyst for creating DEFY -a community led group which aimed to reduce road trauma and fatalaties for young people and their families.

In 2007, with approval and encouragement from the original families and group, the City of Greater Bendigo held a Youth Driver Forum, when interested parties were invited to form the DEFY Advisory Committee. The following objectives were a result of the forum.

  • Driver Education in schools
  • Education and Support for parents of young learner drivers
  • Support for young learner drivers to achieve 120 hours of supervised driving
  • Subsidise instructor lessons for young learner drivers

What does DEFY do?
